Impressions Fine Art Gallery

Our Story

From 2014-2017, Engage Kingsport sponsored an art gallery (Art in the Heart) on Broad Street in Kingsport, TN so local artists could have a venue to present their work, conduct classes, promote local art to the public, and exchange ideas and methods. However, in mid-November of 2017, Engage Kingsport abruptly announced that it was closing the gallery, leaving local artists to “make their own plans for the future.” A dedicated group of local artists responded by rapidly organizing an artists’ co-op (Impressions Fine Art, Inc.) with the goal of providing the same services to the Appalachian Highlands artist community. In less than 10 weeks, this group of artists was able to organize and raise the funds necessary to take over sponsorship of the venue from Engage Kingsport. The venue was reopened as Impressions Fine Art Gallery on February, 1, 2018 with minimal disruption to the local art community.

Today

Impressions Fine Art Gallery continues to showcase local and regional award winning artists’ work in a wide range of styles and mediums, artistic styles and genres. At this venue, artists offer sculpture, paintings, photography, mosaics, prints, cards, jewelry, pottery, and a limited selection of apparel (scarves). In addition, the gallery provides space for the community to learn about art and get started in the visual arts themselves including art classes which span nearly all ages and skill sets and events such as “paint a masterpiece” where local residents can learn to produce their own version of a masterpiece.

Each month, an artist from the community is selected to exhibit their newest work on a Featured Artist wall. The featured artist gets the opportunity to present a broader perspective of their work, possibly present larger scale works, and the community gets to explore the artist’s work in depth. .

Stop in and see our wide selection of local art for sale and meet one of the artists. One of the artists will always be present and you can speak to them personally about their work, techniques, and methods. It is a great chance to learn more about their art.

The gallery spans two floors and contains work by over 25 artists and craftspersons covering a breadth of different art forms and genres.
