Impressions Fine Art: Tell me about a little bit about where you grew up..
Charlie Peters: ..In Kingsport city…(went)All the way through k-9 to Dobbins Bennett … had a really good art program over there… (began my) Practice as an artist was in high school Because I Grew up in Kingsport..My mom is from here.. my dad from New York.. so I grew up half Yankee half redneck and you know…I think with my art especially, the work I have in the show, you'll see two completely different kinds of art and I think growing up with two parents who did things completely different.. ate different food, talk differently.. guess I'm just with me as the person..
Impressions Fine Art:So why did you pick painting everything?Are you still exploring all the different mediums?
Charlie: For me it was music… learning music…. music theory…I also started painting around the same time.Painting was more of something to do…I couldn't sleep.My dad came home with a box of paints, $20, from a yard sale. I just started using them…
Impressions: Tell me about a couple pieces from your show.
Charlie: …started into ancestry and did a DNA tes.tLearn some interesting things about …story behind it or is it just the first one titled Bagpiper..Scottish clan pretty much started Norris invaders so ..It's kind of like…Looking at a lot of Michelangelo paintings while I was painting them..I was just trying to be as expressive as it possibly could be..I took a hatchet and taped to 2 inch brush..What is that..To a certain degree..Certain degree..Definitely capture the violence..I guess..2000 years..
