A cute doll can be made with minimal hand-sewing techniques using an infant-sized sock for the body and head, and a scrap of merino wool felt for the face. This doll is small enough to be carried around by a child or in a backpack, purse or pocket, and is hand-washable.

Meet your teacher: Barbara Bell

“I’ve been drawing pictures since I could hold a crayon without eating it,” Barbara Bell tells people, and she still enjoys drawing pictures, although she uses pen and ink instead of crayons for

most of her work nowadays.

She also likes knitting, sewing, making pottery, playing “backup”

mandolin with whatever bluegrass band will allow her to join in, and

telling stories (her first book is being published in April 2024.) Born and raised in Ohio, Barbara moved to Canada as a teenager and lived there for most of her adult life, with two years spent in Japan as she and her husband substitute-taught conversational English to help out a traveling missionary.
